How Much Lawn Can a Robot Mower Handle?

Buying GuideJanuary 2026 6 min read

The most important factor when choosing a robotic mower is coverage area. Here's how to figure out what you need.

Measuring Your Lawn

You don't need perfect measurements. A rough estimate works fine. Walk the length and width of your mowable area and multiply.

For irregular shapes, break your lawn into rectangles and add them up. Or use a mapping app on your phone — many can measure area from satellite imagery.

MowBro Coverage Areas

  • **MowBro Lite:** Up to 0.15 acres (6,500 sq ft) — perfect for urban lots and small suburban yards
  • **MowBro Standard:** Up to 0.4 acres (17,500 sq ft) — the sweet spot for most Canadian homes
  • **MowBro Pro:** Up to 0.8 acres (35,000 sq ft) — built for larger properties and complex layouts

Don't Forget About Runtime

Coverage area ratings assume the mower runs its full battery cycle. Runtime varies by model: Lite (70 min), Standard (90 min), Pro (145 min).

The mower recharges automatically between sessions, so runtime isn't a limiting factor — it just means more charging cycles for larger lawns.

Consider Your Terrain

Slopes drain the battery faster and reduce effective coverage. If your lawn has significant slopes, size up one model from what the area alone suggests.

Our Recommendation

When in between models, go with the larger one. You'll get faster coverage, less wear on the mower, and room to grow if you expand your lawn area later.
